Portable Slot Car Track

This 4-lane portable slot car track was designed and built by Andrew around 1998 while he was between flying jobs. Built for use at shows and exhibitions, it broke down into three sections and lived in its own purpose built trailer. The circuit was fully landscaped and proved very popular. It’s seen here in use in a promotional capacity at a Mercedes dealership.

The only significant technical problem with the track was the use of copper foil for supplying track power; copper has a high coefficient of expansion with temperature, so every time it underwent a large temperature change the foil required repairs. The track was later sold on.
